Public Assistance

File Under:

So a few weeks back I had to apply for Medicaid for pregnant women and get denied for it in order to get certain medications from MHMR. No big deal, you’d think, because, after all, I’m NOT pregnant, right? So I go down to the local Department of Health and Human Services office and apply only to GET APPROVED a few weeks later.

So today during my services review meeting with my case worker, Joy, I brought up the fact immediately. She was both amused and shocked at the oversight on someone’s part because when she reviewed my paperwork, I’d very clearly marked ‘no’ when it asked if I was pregnant.

On the up side, I did get approved for six more months of food stamps due to the fact that I’m bipolar and that it’s effecting my ability to work as it’s a long-term illness and they consider it a disability. Yay.
